At Home Speech and Language Services is a mobile clinic. Travel to you within HRM is at no extra fee. Virtual appointments available upon request. Due to limited availability booking online is not available with the exception of Susanne for a complimentary 10 min phone appointment to determine a fit and Ms. Kim is accepting new clients in the Halifax, Bedford, Clayton Park and Spryfield area only.

Speech therapists, also called speech-language pathologists, work with people of all ages who may have difficulties with speech, language, communication, or swallowing.

Speech and language therapy services are designed to help individuals improve their communication skills, including speech, language, literacy and social development.

The therapy sessions may involve exercises, activities, games, and other interactive techniques to improve communication skills. Speech therapists always also provide guidance and support to family members and caregivers to help reinforce progress outside of therapy sessions.

Mrs. Susanne Cassidy Duggan

Owner and Director

Susanne R. Cassidy Duggan, M.Sc., SLP-Reg, S-LP(C), has been a licensed, practicing Speech-Language Pathologist for over 20 years, and provides bilingual English/French language services.

In 2008, Susanne recognized the need for readily accessible, naturalistic, and individualized speech-language services, which led her to launch “At Home Speech & Language Services”. She believes that a child’s learning experience must be engaging and positive, and that parent/caregiver coaching is a key component. Professional team collaboration is a priority for successful outcomes. Susanne’s certifications include Hanen early language, PROMPT, and Picture Exchange Communication System (PECS).

As a mobile clinical service, At Home Speech & Language Services Inc. offers travel to clients at no additional cost within the Halifax Regional Municipality. Susanne covers primarily Tantallon, Hubbards, Hammonds Plains, Clayton Park, and Bedford areas.

Associate Clinician

Ms. Kim, MSc, SLP-Reg, SLP(C) has a 25-year career as an SLP in schools, hospitals, private practice, community, and preschool programs in Ontario before spending the last 14 years in NS schools specializing in literacy, AAC, language development, speech sound development and Autism. Ms. Kim has a diverse background before and during her SLP career: published researcher, Early Childhood Educator, public service, and teaching experience with language, literacy & English as an Additional Language. Ms Kim’s private practice interests are: AAC (certified PECS® 1&2, SFY,PLQ2Go), EAL (CELTA/TESOL), Literacy (certified Lindamood Bell® provider), social language (certified PEERS® provider, We Thinkers®), speech sound development (PROMPT® certified Levels 1&2, OMART, Cycles Approach, Orofacial Myofunctional Therapy), early and emergent communication (play based support, PRT®, VB-MAPP ®/ABLLS-R®/VB, HANEN®), school language development, and telepractices. Ms. Kim draws on family-centered practices and motivational interests combined with evidenced informed practices. Ms Kim advocates for diversity affirming principles and is an ally.
